The day opens at Southwest Pinnacle<\/a>, off the south-west coast of Koh Tao. This cluster of submerged granite pinnacles hosts one of the most spectacular anemone fields in the Gulf of Thailand \u2014 hundreds of multi-coloured anemones covering the top and flanks of the main pinnacle, each sheltering colonies of pink and orange clownfish. Indeed, it is a visually arresting opening to the day, perfect for warming up the eyes and the underwater cameras.<\/p>\n

Beyond the anemone garden, Southwest Pinnacle is also rich in pelagic life. Giant groupers, barracuda schools and giant trevally are regularly encountered here.
